Under the supervision of physicians and in the presence of a Polysomnographic Technologist, the Polysomnographic Technician is responsible for performing patient care duties and providing customer service to clients of the sleep center.
Responsibilities:
- Serves, manages and supports internal and external customers.
- Cleaning and sterilization is performed according to infection control guidelines.
- Inventory of lab supplies is taken and level for optimum functioning of lab is maintained.
- Educates patients on sleep lab procedures.
- Prepares patients for diagnostic testing as directed and according to departmental procedures.
- Accurately scores and analyzes sleep studies.
- Participates in sleep disorders center professional activities and continuing education.
- Performs therapeutic treatments and interventions, working with a Polysomnographic Technologist at all times.
- Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
HS Diploma Required
Bachelors Degree or 6 months relevant experience in a related field (such as Sleep, EEG, Respiratory Therapy, or similar) preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation OR Basic Life Support
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
Licensed to practice as a Polysomnographic Technologist from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT), the American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST) or the National Board of Respiratory Care (CRT-SDS or RRT-SDS) within 6 months of meeting the eligibility requirements, and within 2 years from date of hire required.
